Butumba Ward PDM SACCO Elects Vetting, Loans and supervisory Committees
Butumba ward Parish Development SACCO in Muhorro Town Council has successfully elected sub committees responsible for proper utilization of the SACCO funds. The committees elected include the Vetting, Loans and supervisory committee. The exercise took place on 21 October, 2022 in Butumba ward, Muhorro Town Council, Kagadi District.
It was facilitated by the Principal Ward Agent for Butumba Mr. Kabagambe Alahan who brought to the attention of the SACCO members that the money worth UGX 25 millions is already on the bank account of the SACCO. He added that the committees to be elected are important in the implementation and proper utilization of the money put in the SACCO by government.
Alahan explained to the members the committees to be elected which included the vetting, loans and supervisory committees. He also added that the Principal Ward Agent and the District Commercial Officer are part of each committee making the total number of committee members to five.
Representing the Senior Community Development Officer, Ms. Happy Ganyira said that the money should be used for development work, not to buy alcohol, meat, and basic needs for the family. She therefore advised SACCO members to elect leaders who have integrity.
She cautioned women to protect themselves against the deadly cervical cancer which is common in Uganda today. She indicated that health is wealth. She also advised them to monitor any changes in their breasts and if anyone feels pain she should immediately report to a medical personal to avoid contracting breast cancer.
The election process for the three committees was very democratic where members who vote their preferred candidate by raising up their hands. Below are the successful committee members.
